According to the HTTP standard, an HTTP request can use several request methods.
HTTP/1.0 defines three request methods: GET, POST, and HEAD.
HTTP/1.1 adds six request methods: OPTIONS, PUT, PATCH, DELETE, TRACE, and CONNECT.

No. Method Description
1 GET Requests a specified resource and returns the entity body.
2 HEAD Similar to GET, but the response has no body. Used to retrieve headers.
3 POST Submits data to a specified resource for processing, such as submitting a form or uploading a file. The data is included in the request body. A POST request may create a new resource and/or modify an existing one.
4 PUT Replaces the content of the specified document with data sent from the client.
5 DELETE Asks the server to delete the specified resource.
6 CONNECT Reserved in HTTP/1.1 for a proxy that can turn the connection into a tunnel.
7 OPTIONS Lets the client see the capabilities of the server.
8 TRACE Echoes the request received by the server, mainly for testing or diagnostics.
9 PATCH The entity contains a set of changes that describe how it differs from the original content at that URI.
